SHRIYA ENTRY TO THE TELUGU FILM INDUSTRY:
Shriya who’s original name is Shriya Saran is from Dehradun. She is the daughter of NeerajaSaran and Pushpendra Saran. She is now settled in Mumbai. She was born on 11th September, 1982. She has completed her B.A and is a great Kathak dancer. Shriya is an actress in the Tamil and Telugu film industries. She is known for her glamorous and beautiful roles in movies.
EARLY LIFE:
Shriya Saran was born as second child to Neeranja and Pushpendra Saran. She was brought up in Ranipur, a small town in north India, a few miles from the holy city of Haridwar.Her father Pushpendra Saran works at Bharat Heavy Metal Works and her mother is a school teacher teaching chemistry. She has an elder brother Abhiroop, who recently got married. She has completed her schooling from DPS(Delhi Public School). She has done B.A. (Literature) from Lady Sri Ram College(LSR). She has a serious interest in classical dancing, and is an accomplished Kathak dancer. She trained dancing under the guidance of Shobha Narayan.She started her career as an aspiring model. This led to roles in advertisements and music albums.Shriya started her career as a model and which led to lot of advertisements and music albums. Shriya is the brand ambassador for large brands like Brookbond and Red Label Tea. And then she was noticed by movie director Sibi Malayil. Soon, she made her acting debut in his film Ishtam.
FILM CAREER:
She started her acting career with the Telugu film ‘Ishtam’ (2001). Though the film didn’t fare well in the box-office, Telugu producers and directors noticed her potential. She got a big offer to act with Nagarjuna in the film ‘Santosham’ (2002), which turned out a major hit. The films that followed ‘Nuvve Nuvve’ and ‘Bhageeratha’ were also big hits. Next she did one of the biggest hits in her career ‘Chatrapati’ opposite Prabhas.
She made her Tamil movie debut in 'Enakku 20 Unakku 18' (2003), casted along with Telugu actor Tarun, Trisha Krishnan and Reema Sen. The film was a average hit at box-office, but it was more importantly a musical hit due to music composed by A. R. Rahman. Instead of accepting the numerous glamorous roles that came her way from Tamil, she went back to Tollywood where she acted with the top most stars such as Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Mahesh Babu, etc. She has made her comeback in Kollywood through the film Mazhai with Jayam Ravi. The movie did well at the box-office. She beat other top actresses for the much coveted role with Rajinikanth in Shankar's 'Sivaji: The Boss'. She was supposed to act with Kamal Haasan in Dasavatharam. She has recently turned down offers of acting with the likes of Vijay and Vikram as she was bound to the agreement signed for Sivaji: The Boss.
In between she did couple of Hindi films ‘Thoda Tum Badlo Thoda Hum’ opposite Arya Babbar and the supernatural thriller ‘Shukriya’ with Aaftab Shivdasani. Both did do well.
She has signed up with Vishesh Films by Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt to act in 'Awarapan'. The director of the film is Mohit Suri of "Woh Lamhe" and "Zeher" fame, is one of the most sought after directors in the recent times.
